Xanthelasma lesions are benign changes found most frequently in the inner corner of either the upper, or lower or both sets of eyelids. They do not usually cause a functional deficit but given the coloration can be aesthetically problematic.
There can occasionally be systemic cholesterol associations and frequently baseline blood test is undertaken.
Different treatments can be appropriate for this condition including laser, chemical treatment and surgery. The size, depth and location, along with other individual specific features will determine the choice as to which is most appropriate.
